Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac. She’s a fixed earth sign, and we see it in the calm, after the explosive life-force of Aries. She take the form of The Bull. Steady. Strong. Peaceful. Incarnate of Sensuality, and Mother Nature herself. She’s a child of Venus. Let’s talk about Her.
Being the 2nd Sign of the Zodiac, Taurus is the on the younger side of things. Follower of the dynamic power of Aries, Taurus seeks the calm and peace in life. Being a Fixed sign, one that marks the height of a season, Taurus represents that of Spring. It’s after the Pioneer Adventure of Aries, that Taurus followed and becomes the settler. Tills the earth. Sets up home. Lives.
The Function of Taurus is to find that calm. To find that peace. To bring security, and stability to the new world. So how does our Dear Bovine achieve said peace? Out of chaos that is Aries, where does she find her hold in the world?
Well, the earth itself for starters. Through nature. Through the simplicity of appreciating the complexity, and intricacies of Mother Earth herself. From sitting in the middle of a forest, and taking in the greens, and the sounds, and the blues of the sky above the clearing. Or it’s sitting on a beach watching the sun set, and admiring the beautiful hues of oranges and pinks. It’s in those experiences, that there is no need to question the details. Or the need to think, just to be. There is no need to speak, and break that tranquil inner silence it creates.
That inner Chaos is the true Chaos for Taurus, not the external one created by Aries. Made from earth herself, Taurus has immense control on the material side of life. It’s the inner self, the voice that nags, the thoughts that rush around like untied horses. That’s the chaos in which Taurus must find peace. Bring what is below, to above.
Being ruled by the goddess of beauty. This child of hers was bound to acquire some of her marvelous, and some of her undesirable traits. The ability to appreciate the beauty around. Enjoy the finer things in life. But, there is a dark path here. Stability is what Taureans strive for, and in that sense of security, they can surround themselves with pretty, shiny, precious things, their current field becomes a shrine, filled with those collectibles, and be fooled by that. Fooled into the idea that since this field is good enough now, why must they even bother to think of other fields. Bigger Fields. If the field they in now is fine, why?
Well, growth. Going into the unknown to gain those experiences otherwise wouldn’t see, or feel, or know. It’s in that stagnation where the soul can putrefy in it’s own filth. Whether that be Dogmatic Ideals, or a False Sense of Security, Inflexibility, or Fear.
So it’s the celestial task of our lovely cows, to venture out, experience life, and be the Rock. Be the stability in life we need, without rooting yourself into single model of what you think life is or should be. You need to be that stability, so you are that stability.
Remain open to life, never close yourself off from it. From the wonder of it.
